About the Clinician

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

I use a strengths-based lens but I recognize that if you have found your way to my office, then you are struggling in one or more areas of your life. I listen to your words, but also look for the unconscious meaning or themes, that underlie them—-and gently bring them to your awareness. Talk therapy alone can leave us stuck in patterns, thought loops, and rumination. Often, recounting trauma verbally can further re-traumatize us. I lean into body-based methods such as brainspotting or other somatic tools, where you can gently metabolize stress or trauma so that it does not keep you stuck in the same patterns or distress.

I am Phase 2 trained in Brainspotting, a technique developed by David Grand, Ph.D, by Tracy Gantlin-Monroy, MA, MDiv, LPC. I have done multiple speciality trainings and continue in ongoing consultation groups for brainspotting, Inference-based CBT for OCD, and ADHD/autism assessments.

You may be looking for parenting support or looking for guidance for your adolescent. Perhaps you are an adult who is looking for support around gender identity, relationships or quality of life issues. Whatever has brought you to here, I offer a compassionate space to process your struggles and celebrate your successes.

My Journey as a Therapist

A smiling woman with long black hair wearing a red sweater and dark jeans, sitting on a wooden park bench with autumn foliage in the background.

My practice was born out of frustration from trying to find a therapist for my non-binary family member. I realized there are simply not enough trans-affirming providers so I set out to become part of the change I wanted to see - and signed up to attend a WPATH training in 2016. In 2021, I completed a year-long certification from Widener University in Advanced Transgender Studies.

Things took an unexpected turn during quarantine, when I found I had too much time on my hands. Suddenly I started seeing connections I had missed and began doing a deep dive into the world of neurodivergence. After years of paid consultations, trainings, and research--- I uncovered some self-realizations and insights to help clients understand their brains more fully.

I firmly believe you are the expert in your own life and that I am just here to help you see things in a different light. I believe we all have an inner knowing and that trauma and ableism teach us not to trust our intuition. I am here to remind you that you have all the answers you need and together we can learn to access them.

Outside of the Office

Woman in black activewear, sunglasses, pink backpack, standing outdoors near a lake with trees and mountains in the background, overcast sky.

I can usually be found running at 5 am with friends that I can share all parts of myself with —-I am incapable of making small talk.

I love traveling to races with friends and my favorite thing to do is explore small towns in New England and Maryland. Give me mountains, lakes or beaches any day. Sunrises and sunsets bring me so much joy. My happy place is Hilton Head Island, where I've been going for the last 30 years. As soon as I cross over the bridge, my whole system feels at peace.

I am obsessed with pitbulls and have one named Precious but she is too sassy to have any others.

My other special interest is neurodiversity, so if I am not running or working, I can be found listening to my favorite podcast, Divergent Conversations, or scrolling neurodiverse content creators and texting with therapist friends.

One of my favorite aspects about being a therapist is working with creative clients who show me all the art projects or crafts they are working on or listening to a client infodump on one of their special interests. I've learned so much about everything from languages and genetics to Anime from my clients and it never gets old.
